Dr. Lou Montgomery is a performance artist, playwright, expressive arts
psychotherapist, and singer.
She was the co-author and performer of Family Baggage, a comic play about codependence and family addiction that toured the Western United States for several years and has been used in many hospitals and treatment centers. She has also authored and performed " Kali's Follies: Midlife at the Millennium", "Coming Clean", "Pachamama Rides Again", and "Escaping the Matrix".
Lou
was on the faculty of Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico for
sixteen years teaching expressive arts therapy in the Masters counseling
program.
Dedicated to merging the fields of performance art, expressive arts psychotherapy, and higher consciousness, she holds two Masters degrees in Theatre and Applied Psychology and a Ph D in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is also an Associate Director of Psychodrama. Having traveled widely to ancient sacred sites throughout the world Lou has incorporated a wide variety of mystery traditions and shamanic practices into her performance work.
For the past three years Lou has been conducting experiential group
workshops internationally, including "Dream Theatre" and "The Drama to End
the Drama" in Europe and Israel and is currently scheduling work in South
Africa.
She has recorded several CDs with vocalist Adele Getty including
"Luscious Trance: New Tribal Music" and wrote and produced the documentary
video "Dragonquest: Sacred Sites of Britain".
Currently residing in Sonoma County , CA, Lou is performing new work, conducting workshops, and authoring a book entitled "Acting Out".
